Source Notes

  • John T. Wilson gives the death date of his grandfather James L. Wilson as 25 May 1929. This date falls on a Saturday. The June 6 obituary does not give the date of death or burial, but says that he was last seen "on Saturday" by his wife. The obituary says that his body was found on Wednesday, and doctors estimated he had been dead for 4 days, and that he was buried on Thursday. We assume from this that he died on Sat. May 25, was found on Wed. May 29 and buried on Thurs. May 30, and that the obituary of June 6 appeared the following Thursday.
  • James L. Wilson appears in two different places in the 1880 census; once with his parents (Source 3a) and once with his wife (Source 3). We have included both here.
