NOT A DIRECT ANCESTOR

Dunwoodie Wilson is not in my direct ancestry. He is 1 step removed in the following ways:

Dunwoodie (or Dinwiddie) Wilson appears to have been born about 1854 in Butler County, PA, to parents Lot Wilson and Nancy Gallagher. Very little is known of him. He was illiterate, never married, and lived his entire life with his parents until their deaths in 1904 and 1906. He was living alone in 1910, and then disappears from the record. He would have been about 66 years old in 1910, though he reported his age as 56. His parents were buried at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect; no gravestone has been found for him there or elsewhere.

Source Notes

  • Dunwoodie was born about 1854, in Butler County PA, but the township is not known. Parents Lot Wilson and Nancy Gallagher lived in Muddy Creek by 1860, but could have lived with either set of parents when Dunwoodie was born in 1854. The Wilsons were in Connoqueniessing Twp., the Gallaghers in Franklin Twp. The calculated date of his birth is not consistent through the census record. His age accrues fewer than ten years from census to census. We have chosen the earliest (1860) census as nearest correct.

* Dunwoodie Wilson does not appear in the Ancestry.com index of the 1920 census.
