1 | 1830 United States Federal Census, Macungie Twp, Lehigh Co, PA, page 3. Family headed by Philip Kline: 2 males <5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 40-50, 1 female <5, 1 female 15-20, 1 female 40-50. Johanes and Charles correspond to the two boys <5, but the other children do not match the list from the 1840 census and church records. Also, the older female is too old and the 15-20 too young to be Esther. It is possible she was right around 20 here and just over 30 in 1840. The older female may be a sister or sister-in-law and that could also account for the extra children. |

Source notes
- The various Vogele/Foegele/Vegli baptismal sponsors at Zion's Lutheran, Lower Macungie Twp., Lehigh Co. PA are probably related to Charles Klein's grandmother Elizabetha Vogele. Philip Vegli, sponsor at the birth of Philip Klein, is possibly Elizabetha Vogele's brother. Jesse Foegele, David Foegle, and Hannah Foegele are possibly Philip Klein's cousins.
- Obituary of Katherine Shirey Kline says one sister was Mrs. Wm. Beal of Mariasville. See William Beals, of Mariasville, but with wife Susan Kline.
