1 German church records , researched in 1998 by Willi (Leiner), professional genealogist; photocopied results sent by correspondent Fran Bean.
Martin Klein, who died and was buried after Aug. 1700 at Wirthenbach (now Numbrecht-Wirtenbach), was the father of Johannes Klein Sr.
Johannes was born at Wirthenbach; married 10 Aug. 1700 in Essenheim, died/buried 27 Jan. 1730 in Essenheim. He married Anna Ursula (no birthname), widow of Hans Peter Hod. No birth dates for Anna Ursula; she died 23 Apr. 1724 in Essenheim.

The child of Johannes Klein Sr. and Anna Ursula was Johannes Klein, Jr. He has no birth dates. He married first on 31 July 1719 to Eva Kampff, in Essenheim. Eva Kampff was born 13 Dec. 1693 in Essenheim, and died between 1733 and 1736. Their children were Joh. Heinrich Klein b. 30 Mar. 1721, died 3 June 1723; Eva Klein born 11 July 1728; Anna Christina Klein born 15 Oct. 1730; and Johannes Klein born 22 Mar. 1733.
Johannes Klein Jr. married second between 1733 and 1736 Anna Margaret (no birthname). Their children were Joh. Adam Klein born 26 Sept. 1736, and Johannes, born 8 Jan. 1741. This family of Johannes Jr., Anna Margaret, and the 2 children in U.S.A. after 1744.

Source Notes

  • Wirthenbach Germany is now Numbrecht-Wirtenbach, near Waldbrol, 50 miles NE of Cologne.
  • Per researcher Willi Leiner , the Wirthenbach church records indicate Martin Klein died after Aug. 1800. As this is the marriage date of Martin Klein's son, Johannes Klein, it is possible Mr. Leiner miss-read his notes and, thinking 1800 to be the birth date of Martin Klein's son, assigned Martin's death date to some time after his son was born. The notes from Mr. Leiner are not direct quotations of the church records but rather a filled our descendancy chart with dates for births, marriages, deaths.

Conjecture

This is not documented at this time, but the area of Germany is correct .
