Photos 1991 by E. W. Williams
This vintage photo labeled "Lehigh Church" is from Memoirs of Rev. Joshua Yeager by A. R. Horne, 1889. The book contains entries such as "Names of Persons Confirmed at Lehigh Church", so the term is clearly meant as the church's name. We believe this image possibly depicts another church in Lehigh County, and was erroneously labeled in this publication. It depicts a 2-story building with tower on the gabeled end; not consistent with our photo of "The Lehigh Churhc/Zion's Lutheran". The church in our photograph has in its graveyard persons listed in the records of the Lehigh Church/Zion's Lutheran Church.

Source Notes
- Philip Lauer, married to Elizabeth Wieand of Montgomery Co. PA, was a tailor. They had 12 children including Catherine Lauer who had a child with Johan Jacob Kline. (See the will of Jacob Klein). Phillip purchased 47 acres of land lying one mile east of Alburtis from Nicholas Klein on 10 Apr. 1810. For complete biography of Philip Lauer from the History of the Counties of Lehigh & Carbon, by Alfred Mathews, and photos of gravestones at the Lehigh church, see the Phillip Lauer page.
- Baptismal sponsors:
"Johannes Klein & Catharina", sponsors of Johann P. Klein, bapt. 6 Mar 1794, are the paternal grandparents
"Heinrich Vegli" , sponsor of Gabriel Klein, 17 May 1795, appears to be either the maternal grandfather, or the uncle of the infant's mother,Elizabetha Vogele.
"Franses Warmkessel & Elisabetha", 1797 sponsors of Johann J. Klein, are the sister & brother-in-law of the father, Johan Jacob Klein
"Jacob Druckemiller & Anna Maria", 1798 sponsors of Susanna Klein, are sister & brother-in-law of the mother,Elizabetha Vogele.
"Philip Vegli & Elisabetha" are unknown; possibly a brother, cousin, or uncle of the mother,Elizabetha Vogele.
"Daniel Schankweiler & Catharina", 1802 sponsors of Johannes Kleyn, are unknown; if related, Catharina Schankweiler is more likely a sister of the mother, Elizabetha Vogele than of the father, Johan Jacob Klein. His sister Catharina is married to John Moser.
" Salomon Heynle & Margaretha Fogeli", 1803 sponsors of Lidia Kleyn, are unknown; Margaretha is possibly a sister of Elizabetha Vogele. See the Johannes Peter Klein page, Source Notes and Conjecture sections, re. John Heinly and the Heinly family.
"Abraham Vogly & Catharina Desch (both single)", 1805 sponsors of Catharina Kleyn, are unknown; Abraham is possibly a brother of Elizabetha Vogele.
"Berhard Finley & Elisabeth", 1808 sponsors of Elisabeth Klein, are possibly the sister & brother-in-law of Elizabetha Vogele; 2 daughters of Peter Vogele were named Elizabetha & Elisabeth.
"Johann Kieser & wife", 1810 sponsors of Judith Klein, are unknown.

The material in this section is for research leads only. We do not wish to imply any connection to our family at present, nor suggest its use without additional confirmation.
- A Gabriel Klein & wife Margaret appear in 1786 as sponsors at a Stahl family baptism. This Gabriel is too early to be the Gabriel, son of Johan Jacob Klein, above. See records of Upper Milford Reformed Congregation, now Zion's Reformed Church at Zionsville
