17 | Obituary of Katherine Shirey Kline, posted Keystone Corner/Ancestry.com by Kelly Fulcher; publication source not given. "KLINE, Catherine Ann - Mrs. Catherine Ann Shirey Kline, an aged and respected lady of Richland Township, this county, passed away at her home near Mariansville, Sunday, March 3, after a short illness from complications due to advanced age. Mrs. Kline was a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Johnson Shirey, deceased, and was born in the same township in which she died, on Jan. 8, 1835. She was married on Jan 16. 1859, to Charles Kline, who preceded her in death 23 years ago. To their union were born five sons and one daughter, three of whom survive; Frank Kline, J.J. Kline and Sarah M. (Mrs. W.C. Texter). One sister, Mrs. Wm. Beal, of Mariasville, also survives. Note: the usage of "sister" in the obituary for Mrs. Wm. Beal would correctly be "sister-in-law". Thus Susan Kline was a sister of Charles Kline (b. 1838), and a daughter of Philip Klein and Ester Fogele of Lehigh Co. PA. | |

Source Notes
- The 1860 census which shows Susan (Kline) age 17, married to William Beals, clarifies that this Susan is not the same as Susan Kline daughter of John Klein & Anna Fenstermacher; their daughter is living at home, age 23 in 1860.
- The 1900 census [5] reports that Susan Beals bore 6 children of whom 3 survived. Duane Beals [8] recalls James Sinas, Emma, and John H. Beals. Samuel (age 2 in 1870) and two, names currently unknown, did not survive.
No record for William and Sarah Beals could be found in the 1910 census.
- Searches of all of Pennsylvania for William and Susan Beals gave no good matches in the 1910 census.
- Note that Samuel died before the 1880 census.
