ROBERT LOGAN SR.:
Massey Dillon was a daughter of Isaac Dillon, a veteran of the American Revolution who was killed in an Indian raid at Phillipsburg, NJ. Massey, at age 12, was scalped in this raid, but survived and recovered. She became the wife of Robert Logan Sr. This Robert Logan was apparently born before 1765 in Ireland; appears by 1800 in Slippery Rock Twp., Butler Co. PA; and is taxed in 1803 for 400 acres of land in Slippery Rock Twp. This Robert Logan (and presumably Massey Dillon) appear in the 1800 census with 2 sons & 2 daughters under age 10; and in the 1820 census with 4 sons and 2 daughters. Among their sons were Robert Logan who married Euphamia Stoughton & resided in Slippery Rock Twp., Butler Co. Pa; Isaac Logan who married 1st) Rachel Morton, & 2nd) Dianna Morton, & resided in Allegheny Co. PA; and possibly a James Logan & wife Susanna who resided near Isaac in Allegheny Co. (see 1860 census).
Robert Logan the elder made his will in April of 1840 and died on or about 2 June 1840. The will mentions by name a daughter Martha, wife of Robert Bell.

Pa, subsequently practicing law in Emporia Kansas, was son of William Hamilton (born Mercer Co. PA, moved to Iowa) and Catharine Logan. Her father was Robert Logan who served in the Union army, 100th Regiment Pa infantry. "He entered service at the advanced age of sixty-four and died from exposure at Newport News, VA, before his 3 years' service was over." Additionaly, the maternal great-grandmother of Judge Hamilton (Alphius Lamont L. Hamilton), "Massie Dillon", when a girl of twelve years was captured, scalped and left for dead by the Indians in a raid at Phillipsburg NJ, both parents being killed at the same time." She was found by white settlers and recovered. Her father was Isaac Dillon of NJ, veteran of the Revolution.
6	Will of Robert Logan, dated 18 Apr 1840, transcript supplied by Marc Flitch. (See transcript of will at right, followed by image of deposition of witnesses, and image of swearing in of executors.) The will mentions "wife and several children who have survived me"(these are unnamed); son-in-law Robert Bell & wife Martha Bell, formerly Martha Logan; also mentions property in Slippery Rock Twp sold to John and Thomas Patterson. Witnesses are John McGeorge and Samuel Krist; executors are Alexander McBride and Isaac S. Pearson. Note: We believe this to be the will of the senior Robert Logan, husband of Massy Dillon; see dated documents below. Deposition of Samuel Krist and John McGeorge dated 2 June 1840, saying they witnessed the signing of the will of Robert Logan, in the home of William Logan, on 18 April 1840. (Presumably this signifies that Robert Logan died on or shortly before 2 June 1840.)	See will transcript
7	Suit against estate of Robert Logan by Rebekah & Dan Smith Suit of Rebekah & Dan Smith against estate of Robert Logan for $7.29 for services rendered Robert Logan during his life, and wife Massey after his death. Services are dated 16 Mar. 1839, & 1841. Lawsuit is dated 5 June 1842(1849?). Note: The wording that services in 1839 were during the lifetime of Robert Logan, and services in 1841 for wife Massey were after his death, suggests the estate of Robert Logan whose will is dated 18 Apr. 1840. In addition this document contains a poorly legible signature by Alexander McBride, Executor. In the 1840 will of Robert Logan, he names an "Alexander McBride" as executor. Taken together, this suggests strongly that the 1840 will is that of Robert Logan husband of Massey, (and thus, the father of Robert Logan, husband of Euphamia Stoughton).	See transcript;

ERROR: Editor's Note: the will of Robert Logan which names Martha Bell and son-in-law Robert Bell mentions a wife, but DOES NOT NAME HER. This appears to be the will of Robert Logan (Sr.), husband of Massy Dillon, making Martha Bell not a daughter but a sister-in-law of Euphamia Stoughton. The explanatory name "Euphamia Stoughton" as wife has apparently been added erroneously to the will extract by the website page owner. Additional data re. 9	Butler Sentinel notice, issues of 24 Nov 1827 and 5 Jan 1828. Copy supplied to us by Marc Flitsch. Robert Logan issued a notice to creditors, that he would not pay bills for his wife Massey who had left him "on the 19th instant". (i.e. 19 Nov 1827). The unknown length of separation extended at least through January.

• Relationship of Rebekah & Daniel Smith to Robert Logan, Sr. is unknown at present (see their suit against estate of Robert Logan, above). Per the website listed below, Daniel Smith married Rebecca Ann Boston (b. 1809). Their daughter Rebecca Ann Smith (b. 1830) married John Campbell Wigton, and this couple named a son Covert Marcellus Wigton (b. 1854). This suggests the family of John Wigton (b. ~1762) & wife Magdalena Covert (b. ~1772), with whom Robert Logan (Jr.) resided in 1850. Descendants of Daniel Smith & wife Rebecca Boston are listed at:
