Oscar and Martha are listed as being a separate family but living in the same dwelling; they were married the previous November. Geo, Lucy A., Orange, Marion, and Oscar were born in Indiana. Erastus, Lucy, and Caroline were born in Vermont. Willie was born in Illinois. No one had parents of foreign birth. Marion and Willie were in school. Everyone is either a farmer or a house keeper, except for Caroline who is a seamstress. The previous house in the census (on the previous page of the census) is that belonging to Erastus' son, Erastus Warren Church.

This is a four-sided monument with engravings for Erastus, Lucy, and Elizabeth on three of the sides. The engraving for Erastus Church indicates that he died on 3 Sep 1877 at the age of 71 years, 7 months, 24 days. This implies a calculated birth date of 10 Jan 1806. The engraving for Elizabeth Stickney indicates that she died on 30 Dec 1860 at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 3 days. This implies a calculated birth date of 27 Nov 1770. The engraving for Lucy H. Whitten has not yet been seen by this researcher.

R2	1810 Census for Cornish, Cheshire, NH, lists a John Whitten as a head of household in a house with 1 male 10-15, 1 male 26-44 (presumably John), two females under 10 (possibly including Lucy), and 1 female 26-44 (presumably John's wife). Nothing to link this to Lucy other than the last name, she was born in NH, and the age is in the right range.	N/A

• I spoke with the Rochester, VT, clerk's office (Joanne McDonnell) and she indicated that they have no records at all for Erastus Church, Lucy Whitten, Caroline/Carolyn Church, or Erastus W. Church. The only Church birth records they have are from the 1900s. She suggested that I try neighboring towns such as Hancock and Ripton.
