5 Gravestone transcriptions, Phipps Cemetery, Ashland Twp., Clarion Co. PA; transcribed by Elizabeth Wilson Williams, with Cammy Whitehead Shreffler, June 2008.
  • The Wood plot is near the front of the cemetery, 2 rows from the road. The gravestone for Lucinda Wood (1861-1881) is directly beside (to right of) the small Phipps cemetery sign, and directly to the left of the stone for her father-in-law, George Wood (1819-1895). To the right of the George Wood stone is that for 2nd wife Mary Wood (1840-"1888"). Behind these stones, next row, are the stone for Julia Ann (1821-1858), wife of Geo. Wood, and beside (to right) her stone are two Wood children, Joseph D., and one not transcribed/ poorly legible. Apparently when Lucinda died in 1881, she was buried in the plot of the parents of her husband, George W. Wood, who would have been age 27 in 1881. Her father-n-law George Wood was age 60 in the 1880 census, & per his gravestone lived till 1895.

This family is possibly George W. Wood, his second wife and their children. The marriage date would be shortly after the death of Lucinda, and George's birth year is correct.
*1910 census for same family shows an additional son, Albert D., born in 1903.
**George W. Wood was still alive for the 1930 census.
