NOT A DIRECT ANCESTOR

Hudson Kline is not in my direct ancestry. He is 1 step removed in the following ways:

Hudson Kline married Angleine Nunemaker. They lived in a house that had been the Cohlhepp homestead, located between Millerstown and Pine City (Pitchpine), Ashland Twp., Clarion Co. PA. The house was built of dynamite boxes and tarpaper. Lots of dynamite was used in the locality in drilling for oil. Pine trees from Pitchpine were tapped, and the tar from the pitch was put into barrels and shipped down the Clarion, Allegheny, and Mississippi Rivers to Louisiana where it was used to tar boats bound for England. Hudson died in 1904,killed in a boiler explosion at a sawmill. He and wife Angeline are buried at Phipps Dunkard Cemetery, Elmo. [6]

Source notes

  • 1870 census has been manually searched for Henry Kline and family in area around Richland and Salem Twps. No likely candidates are found. Two Hudson Kline's found in the census elsewhere in PA do not appear to be related.
  • 1900 census lists daughter "Eda" born 1893, and Viola born 1890. Unclear whether "Eda" is Edna or Edith; the other one would presumably be Viola, as all other children are accounted for in the listing.
  • The Cohlhepp homestead, residence of Hudson & Angelina Kline, was also the birthplace of Charles Walls, spouse of Nancy E. Beals Walls, contributor to this website and granddaughter of Winnifred May Kline
