NOT A DIRECT ANCESTOR

Elizabeth V. Kline is not in my direct ancestry. She is 1 step removed in the following ways:

Lizzy Kline was the 9th child of parents John & Annie Kline; she had 4 older brothers, 4 older sisters, and a younger brother and sister. She apparently married at about age 22, to Simon Korb, and they had four children before she died at the relatively young age of 29 years, in 1875. Her children were raised by their father and step-mother. Her gravestone is in the plot of her parents at St. Mark's Memorial Chapel, Ashland.

14 Correspondence, descendants of Charles Christian Liebrum, July 2010.
Frederick Liebrum was born ~1838 in Hesse Cassel Germany; his wife Katherine was born ~1838 in Hanover. Descent is through their son Charles Christian Liebrum, and he was known to have had a sister named Tena.

A "Leberman" family was located in the 1880 census, Elk Twp., Clarion Co. PA, with Christian and Tena of correct ages among their children, and with other names matching the family records. Per the census:

  • Frederick Leberman, age 42, b. Hesse-Cassel, farmer, both parents b. Hesse-Cassel Germany.
  • Katherine, wife, age 42, b. Hanover, both parents b. Hanover.
  • Emma, daughter, age 15, b. Hesse-Cassel
  • Henry, son, age 12, b. Hesse-Cassel
  • Christian, son, age 11, b. Hesse-Cassel
  • Anna, daughter, age 8, b. Hesse-Cassel
  • Mary, daughter, age 6, b. PA
  • Tena, dau., age 5, b. PA
  • Rosa, dau., age 3, b. PA

The family research indicates that Charles Christian's sister Anna married William Korb, and sister Mary married James W. Mong. Please see Source Notes section, below.

Source Notes

  • Our research agrees that James W. Mong married a Mary Lieberum. We have that Dena Lieberum married first to John Valentine Frederick and second to William Korb. The first wife of Wm. Korb was unknown to us. (See this page for William H. Korb; see Sarah Jane Kline page for James W. Mong.)
The name & birth date correspondence for the children suggests that the 1880 census for the "Leberman" family above is in fact the Liebrum family and that Dena Lieberum is the "Tena Leberman" in this census. The "Dena" spelling is found on her gravestone, (buried as wife of John V. Frederick), and in the funeral records of both Dena Frederick Korb and William Korb. The family of Frederick "Leberman" apparently immigrated between 1872 (birth of Anna) and 1874 (birth of Mary). In 1880 they no doubt still spoke with heavy German accent. The census taker heard "Tena" for Dena, and "Leberman" for Liebrum.
