Baptism Records

From page 17: This church housed two congregations, the Lutheran and the Reformed; baptismal records from 1820- 1853 are both Lutheran and Reformed; the records from 1880-1896 are Reformed only.

Death Records

From page 187: In the Lutheran record are lists…from 1848 to 1873. …The records in the Lutheran book are entirely in German and are copied here exactly as they are found, with an English translation… “ In the case of the older persons there is information as to place of birth, date of arrival in America, cause of death, number of survivors…The list is unique and the writer knows of no church record among the older German churches in eastern Pennsylvania that is so informative. However, in many parishes in Germany such complete records are kept, and the completeness of St. Paul’s record is probably due to the European training of these pastors.

p. 192 MICHAEL BREY war geboren den 14 April 1773 und starb den 8 Juni 1859 in dem sehr hahen Alter von 86Jahren, 1M. u. 16 Tagen, und werd begrabem in Salem. (Michael Brey was born on April 14, 1773 and died on June 8, 1859 at the very old age of 86 years, 1 month and 16 days, and he was buried in Salem.)

p. 194 JACOB KLEIN was born on March 7, 1796 in Lehigh County and was baptized and confirmed there. He died on April 6, 1861, in the morning at 6 o’clock after a long illness, leaving a wife and 11 children…Died at the age of 65 years, 29 days. R.I.P.

p.194 SUSANNA KLEIN, widow of Jacob Klein, was born on May 8, 1808 and died after a long and painful illness on June 1, 1861, at the age of 53 years and 24 days.

Source notes

Note that the Jacob Klein mentioned on page 194 is not direct ancestor Jacob Klein, but a brother of direct ancestor John Klein.
