6 Descendants of Martin Klein research manuscript by Cammy Whitehill Shreffler. Portion re. William O. Klein conveyed by his daughter, Lizzie Kline Burgdorger, to her daughters Marie Glass Piper & Dorothea Glass Slye; thence to Cammy Whitehill Shreffler, granddaughter of Dorothea Glass Slye.
William O. Klein was 11 yrs. old when his father died and 13 yrs. old when his mother died. He lived for a time with the Fye family (his sister Catherine). "He had the hardest job at the mill until he was about 18."
William O. Klein has not been identified in the 1870 census as yet; he would be 19 yrs old and was probably working. He is not found living with his siblings. He married in 1874 and does appear in the 1880 the census with wife Mary and children.

10 Personal correspondence Lulu Belle (Unknown) Kline, widow of Wade Wesley {Bud) Kline; correspondence 2008-ongoing. Bud Kline descended from John Klein through William O. Kline and his son Charles Kline.

"Information on the Kline family was in the Iron County Chronicle, publ. by Clarion County Historical Society, ca. 1993.

  • William O. Kline's father, John, died when William was a young boy. Williams became a carpenter & built oil rigs for a living. He owned a house in Venus, (unincorporated community including parts of Venango and Clarion Counties), as mentioned in the 1877 History of Clarion County, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Charles Kline, widow, had the deed to a farm William later purchased in Pinegrove Township, Venango County, about 1.5 miles from Venus, and still resided on the farm (in 1993). William was the father of 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy, Velma, Wade (Bud), Harold (Mort), and Lois. Another child, a girl, died in infancy. We learned the names of William's parents at Faller Funeral Home in Fryburg."
