Source notes
- Anna "Ellie" Frederick appears in both the 1870 & 1880 census as "Alice".
- Since the Frederick Bible was published in Philadelphia in 1882, it was purchased at least 30 years after John & Anna Catherine immigrated to America, possibly by one of the children. The marriage and the births pages both appear to be written by the same hand. If so, they were written by someone other than Anna Catherine, whose death date is inscribed. This is possibly the family Bible of one of the children rather than of John Frederick & Anna Catherine Kenemuth.
- Hitzerode, Germany is about 20 miles SE of Kassel, in Hesse. Frankershausen is a few miles from Hitzerode. Both towns are quite small.
- Dr. Kurt Guenther, in typing up his notes on the Frederick & Kuhnemuth families, has indicated on the Frederick page (where most events occurred in Hitzerode) that John Frederick & Anna Catherine Kuhnemuth were married in Hitzerode. On the Kuhnemuth page (where most events occurred in Frankershausen) he indicates that they were married in Frankershausen. Possibly the marriage of a church member would have been recorded in both churches.
- Church records in Germany show Anna Catherine & John Frederich married 20 Oct. 1851. The Frederick Bible puts the date at 20 Oct. 1850, but was inscribed after Anna Catherine died, probably by her husband or one of the children.
- Lieberum Cemetery (land donated by the Lieberum family), also known as the "Dutch" (ie German) cemetery, is near the old Frederick farm in Ashland Twp., Clarion Co. PA The cemetery is possibly at the site of the former St. Johns Reform Church.
