2 | 1860 United States Federal Census, Muddy Creek Township, Butler County, PA, Page 14, Dwelling 93 lists James Cratty , 38, as a farmer married to Tamson Cratty, 31. They are listed as living with their four children, son James Cratty , 9, son (illegible T---field?), 7, daughter Martha J. Cratty, 6, and daughter Eleanor Cratty, 3. All were born in PA. the older three children attend school. | |
3 | 1870 United States Federal Census, Muddy Creek Twp, Butler Co, PA, pag 7. Census dated 7-8 July 1870. Lines 15-20: Tamson Cratty, 41, keeping house, $3550 real, 1141 personal property, can not write; James, 18, farmer; Winfield, 17, farmer; Martha, 16; Elzina, 13; Permilla, 6. All children but Permilla in school; all b. PA. Note: James Cratty Jr. has presumably died. Daughter Permilla's age, if accurate, suggests he died after 1864; however, source #5 suggests he died in 1861. See Source Notes section; wife Tamson, only partially literate, may have miss-stated Permilla's age in 1870. |

Source notes
- The name Millhausen is also seen as changed to Millison, Millson, Millron.
- If Permilla Cratty (age 6 in 1870 census) is the daughter of James Cratty, Jr., it calls into question whether the Civil War death record (died Nov. 1861) is for this same James Cratty, Jr. Tamson, the mother of Permilla, was only partially literate, so the age of Permilla in 1870 may be in error; she could have been 8 or 9 years old.
