In the census records of their era, capital "J" and capital "I" look identical in some script, so it is presumed that Paul W. Myers mistook James I. Hogue for James J. Hogue. It is presumed that John T. Wilson heard "Irvin" and recorded "Urvin". The research manuscript of Dr. Egle on the Hogg/Hoge family of Tuscarora Valley PA reports that James Irvin Hoge was a child of James Hoge and Mary Irvin. Butler, A Pictorial History, by Stephen M.Pozar & Jean B.Purvis, reports that James I. Hoge was a surveyor who laid out the town of West Liberty. From this accummulation of data, we conclude that Elizabeth Hogue was a child of James Irvin Hogue/Hoge, a son of James Hoge and Mary Irvin. | N/A

- Paul W. Myers reports that the father of Elizabeth Hogue was James J. Hogue. In the Hogue census records, capital "J" and capital "I" look identical, so it is presumed that Paul W. Myers mistook James I. Hogue for James J. Hogue. James Irvin Hogue was named for his mother, Mary Irvin.
