Source Notes

The 1850 census from Cherokee County has not been linked explicitly to our direct-line Kings; a lot of the names matched up so I included it here, even though Cherokee County is quite a ways away from Charlotte.

A grave for John King is listed, died 5-20-1820, Age 60 yrs. This would fit with the census data for 1820 showing Elizabeth King as head of household, provided the census came after May. That would give an approximate birth year for John King of 1760. Also listed is a grave for Nancy King, died 1797, age 26 years and a grave for William Pryor King, born 9-9-1909 died 7-13-1964 USNR, WWII .
