He is a farmer and now owns and occupies a farm of 77 acres, and is also engaged in the oil business. He has been school director for several terms. His parents were Jacob and Susannah (Weter) Kline. W. J. Kline was married on Feb. 28, 1870 to Christina Best, a daughter of John and Margaret (Smail) Best, who came from Westmoreland county in 1804. They have three children - Ida L., Warren E., and Elmer S."

Conjecture

• Census of 1870 & 1880 not found in Clarion Co. PA, searching by ancestry.com for William, William J., William Jackson, Jackson, etc. or for Christina Kline. A couple of approximately correct ages are found in 3rd Ward Wilkes Barre, Luzerne Co. Pa on 1 June 1870, pg 73, Lines 5-8 William Kline age 29, teamster b. PA, & Christina age 27 b. PA; neither can read or write. They are living with Maria Dunn age 52 b. Germany, & Catharine Dunn, 18, b. PA; these also cannot read or write. (Note that none of the children of Wm J. & Christina were born before Dec. 1870.)
