When I first saw the 1870 census entry here, I thought it must be wrong since the children were so old and it was quite a distance from Terre Haute.

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/21790383/person/1150926716 where it became clear that Alexander McCulloch had had a previous marriage with children who were showing up in 1870. Also, Alexander and Arminta eventually had a child named "Warren Erastus McCulloch" which is an obvious homage to members of Arminta's family, so I stuck with it.  I haven't dug out enough sources from that tree yet to demonstrate that their son Warren's middle name is Erastus, so I need to do that since that is the clincher here.

This source is a bit of a stretch... if Arminta is the wife of Alex, and the kids are hers, then she had a son when she was 11?? Also, Robert and Emily would have been born prior to the 1860 census, when we see Arminta living at home. Aaah, previous marriage.  See this tree: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/21790383/person/1150926716  The eventual son "Warren Erastus McColloch" sells it as the correct Arminta.
