Sarah Jane Kline was the 10th child of John & Annie Kline. In about 1866, at age 18 or 19, she married Joseph Mong who was about 6 years her senior. Four years later they had 3 toddlers of their own, were raising a 4 yr. old nephew of Joseph's, and had a single parent Catherine Huddleston and her two toddlers living with them. Over the next 30 years Sarah had 11 more children, six of whom died before 1900. Sarah's husband and a seventh child died by 1910. Sarah and Joe Mong owned a farm without mortgage by 1900, but in 1910 she was renting her home. The farm may have gone to one of the children.

"Kline, Reuben, Kossuth p.o., Ashland, a merchant and farmer of Kossuth, PA., was born in Lehigh county, Pa., on December 7, 1828, and was a son of John and Anna (Fanstermacher) Kline, who settled in Clarion county, Pa., in 1837, and in Ashland, Pa., in 1847, and cleared and improved the farm which is now owned and occupied by the late Henry Kline. They had a family if eleven children - Henry, Reuben, Jacob, Maria, Catherine, Eliza, Susan, James, Elizabeth, Sarah and William. Reuben Kline settled in Ashland, Pa., in 1847, and was married twice. His first wife was Ann E., a daughter of John and Mary (McCleef) Measley, of Ashland, Pa. They had a family of seven children - John M., George W., Harriet L., Maggie A., Andrew C., Reuben F., and Susan L. His second wife was Harriet, a daughter of John and Mary (Kribbs) Weaver, of Ashland, Pa. They have had a family of children. Mr. Kline has served as constable of Ashland, Pa. for seven years, was justice of the peace for five years, and has been engaged in the mercantile business for ten years." p.? - Abraham Richards is listed as one of the Clarion town incorporators, in 1841, and a member of the town council at that time.

John & Anna Kline first settled at Wentlings Corners (Beaver Twp., south of Knox)., near the Twin Churches, i.e. St. Paul's Lutheran & Reformed. Visited Zion's Lutheran Church graveyard; reviewed church records at Lehigh Co. Historical Society, in Lehigh Co., 1991, in company of Elizabeth Wilson Williams & Ella Beals Wilson.

• Third child listed as Margaret E. Mong in 1870 census, age 2 mos., is not listed in 1880 census, but Susan E. Mong appears, age 10. This may be the same child, with name listed erroneously in one of the census. If they are two individuals, Susan would have been born by December 1870, a bare 8 1/2 months after Margaret's birth, and Margaret would have died before the 1880 census.
• By 1870 the Mong household included a 4 yr old nephew of Joseph Mong, as well as 28 year old Catherine Huddleston and her 2 small children. We speculate that young Allison Mong and the two Huddleston children may have lost their fathers in the Civil War; that Catherine Huddleston may have been Joseph Mong's sister.
