Source notes

  • Harry Kline: The 1850 census erroneously names Harriet, F, age 20.
  • Per Nancy Beals Walls, John N. Kline, son of Guy H. Kline, had been president of the First Nat. Bank of Emlenton PA.
  • Per the "Commemorative Biographical Record of Central Pennsylvania", Emanuel Slougenhaupt married Susanna Kline.
Per Kelly Fulcher, Susanna Kline had a brother Harry Kline who married a Barbara Slougenhaupt. Apparently, siblings married siblings.
  • Per Kerry Kline, son Oliver J. Kline married twice, to Sara Nunemaker, and to Sadie Nunemaker (Kester); expect sisters, but possibly the name could indicate one individual. Source of information not known.
  • Kerry Kline erroneously lists H. Duwayne Kline as a son of Harry Kline. He (H. Duwayne Kline) was in fact a grandson of Harry Kline. His parents were George Emanuel Kline & wife Olive Irene Wise; this per a grandson of George Emanuel Kline.
  • Per Cammy Whitehall Schreffler, son's name is Guy "Henry" Kline.
  • Directions to Triangle Cemetery. Per Nancy Beals Walls, the cemetery at Triangle, Beaver Twp., Clarion Co. PA was also known as the Crybaby Cemetery, because so many infants were buried there. In 2007 when we visited the cemetery, there was no community center, beyond farms. To locate the cemetery, from Knox take Rt 208 west. Go south on Atelberger Rd. Continue past Hurlebrink Rd on the left(which leads to Emanuel Lutheran cemetery). Continue past Old State Rd. on the right; Atelberger Rd. becomes Beaver Hill Rd. At Kropps Corners, Beaver Hill Rd. intersects with Delo School Rd. ( on the right, going west) and Jefferson Furnace Rd. (on the left, going east). South of this intersection, Beaver Hill Rd. becomes Triangle Rd. Just beyond this intersection, the cemetery lies immediately to the right of Triangle Rd., in the angle formed by Triangle Rd and Dello School Rd. Continuing south on Triangle Rd. will bring you shortly to Rt. 338 at Monroe.

Conjecture

In attempting to identify the graves found in relative proximity at Triangle Cemetery (Salem Twp., Clarion Co. PA), we find that Harry Kline married Barbara Shlagenhop, and that Emma and Mable were their daughters, and Duane H. Kline was their grandson (by their son George Emanuel Kline). Note that Emanuel Sloughenhaupt, a brother of Barbara, married Susanna Kline, a sister of Harry, though Emanuel & Susanna don't appear to be buried at Triangle. Barbara & Emanuel had a brother Joshua Sloughenhaupt, born ~1840 who married Ellen W. (per the 1900 census Salem Twp., Clarion Co. PA.) They had a son Joshua J. born ~1888 per the census; but possibly the Joshua J. born 1877 per the gravestone at Triangle.
This leaves the Gravestone of Maggie E., wife of (J.L.) Harley. She died in 1879 at about 31 yrs. old, suggesting she was born ~1848. Harry & Barbara (Shalgenhop) Kline named a son Guy Harley Kline, so the Harley name seems to have some significance. Barbara has a sister named Margaret (Maggie?) age 9 in 1850, so born about 1841; not a great match for Mrs. J.L. Harley born ~1848, but a possibility. Keep in mind that Barbara (& possibly her sisters) didn't read or write; they may also have had difficulty tracking their ages accurately.
