Claus Kuhnemuth

Claus Kuhnemuth is a tentative addition to the Kuhnemuth family tree. Church records in Frankershausen show his son also named Claus was born 23 June 1729. This son Claus (1729) bore a son who was baptized in 1771 and whose godfather was "Johannes Kuhnemuth, brother of the father". Thus two brothers, Johannes and Claus Kuhnemuth, had a father named Claus Kuhnemuth.
This godfather Johannes Kuhnemuth is possibly the same person as our Johannes Frantz Kuhnemuth born~1745. The page of notes thought to be from the Bible of Jacob Kuhnemuth (born 1796) state that Jacob's father's name was John, so he went by Johannes rather than Frantz.
Additional church records indicate two wives of the elder Claus Kuhnemuth, Catherina Wachsmuth married in 1726, and Dorothea Becker married in 1728. If Johannes Frantz Kuhnemuth, born ~1745, is indeed a son of Claus, the mother would be Dorothea Becker.

This research was commissioned by Judy King in 1991. Johannes Frantz Kuhnemuth, birth date not listed, baptized 21 Feb. 1745. He died at age 66 yrs, on 20 Jan 1811 at Frankershausen. He married 17 April 1791 to his 2nd wife Anna Eliesabeth Schindewolf. She was born in Frankershausen, baptized 4 July 1752, and died at Frankershausen on 17 Dec 1811 at the age of 59 yrs, 7 mos., 1 week, & 6 days. The father of Johannes Frantz Kuhnemuth was Claus Kuhnemuth. The dates and wife of Claus Kuhnemuth are not listed.

  "On 19 Aug. 1809, the driver Johann Kuhnemuth from Frankershausen age 37 yrs. and reported the birth of a male child born on Aug. 18th to be named Johann Claus, born by his wife Anna Elisabetha. Witnesses: Jacob Kuhnemuth and Johann Claus Kuhnemuth."
