Johannes Friedrich
The younger Johannes Friedrich, who was born in 1784, grew up in Hitzerode. His maternal Becker grandparents from Hitzerode had died twenty years earlier, and his paternal grandparents may or may not have been living, but if so, were some miles away. Perhaps as a boy he accompanied his father on his "fuhrmann's", or wagoner's route, for the younger Johannes also took up this trade as an adult. Johannes' parents were thirty-nine when he was born, so he may well have been the youngest son. Possibly he took over the team & wagon when his father's old age.
Four months after his twentieth birthday, Johannes married Anna Margarethe Speck, also from Hitzerode and the daughter of Jakob Speck and Anna Catharina Becker. Anna Margarethe was nineteen when they married. They were in their sixties when their son left for America in 1852.
