John Stoughtonis listed as a farmer, Mary Stoughton as "keeping house," and James Stoughton as "farm laborer." Everyone is listed as having been born in PA. Mary Stoughton has a "father of foreign birth." James, Mary, Ann, and Elizabeth attended school within the year. Mary and Ann are listed as unable to write. This census page is undated. The Stoughtons... became the parents of seven children, all of whom attained maturity, and of whom there are now three survivors. They were as follows: James, a resident of Claytonia; Mary, now deceased, who was the wife of Henry Miller; Elizabeth, wife of James L. Wilson, of Brady Township; Annie, now deceased, who was the wife of Samuel Lawrence, of Muddy Creek Township; Ella, also deceased, who was the wife of William Stine, of Brady Township; Mrs. Sydney Jane Conroy, of New Castle; and Solomon R., whose name appears at the head of this sketch. - From Ann Fix: The graves for Henry Miller & daughter Minnie are near those for John C. Stoughton and Mary Jane McCandless Stoughton. Mary O. Stoughton Miller was buried in the same row as Henry and daughter Minnie Miller, but at the very end of the row, near the lake.
Minnie died young in 1883, followed by Henry in 1887. Mary and Henry probably owned only a two grave plot. Or possibly Mary's parents provided space for Minnie in their plot and then Mary wanted Henry buried beside his daughter.
