- First child Wm. Jordan Thomas died at age 1. Another child unnamed here was born & died. Nancy Rebecca Ashley possibly appears pregnant in the family photo of about 1896. She would have been about 47 that year, and may have lost the child.

Conjecture
- A Thomas family researcher in correspondence mentioned that it is thought that the mother of Nancy Rebecca Ashley was a Blue descendant. The Blue family is of the Catawba Indian tribe; their chief at present (2007) is from the Blue family, although he was adopted into it. The Catawba lands in South Carolina border the area where the Thomas family lived.
