Source notes

  • Census extracted information sent by Thomas G. Adams to Murphy Whisnant. Also noted that the grave of Nancy Rebecca Ashley has no marker; buried with Andrew L. Thomas at Flint Hill Cemetery, York SC (no source given).

Conjecture

  • A Thomas family researcher in correspondence mentioned that it is thought that the mother of Nancy Rebecca Ashley was a Blue descendant. The Blue family is of the Catawba Indian tribe; their chief at present (2007) is from the Blue family, although he was adopted into it. The Catawba lands in South Carolina border the area where the Thomas family lived.
