Source notes

  • Per contributor James Voltz, one of Jane Stoughton (b. 1821) & Thomas Boyle's children was Martha Boyle(b. ~1840's?) who married John Edward Hagan. It is said that he was a Missouri farmer. In the 1880 census of Barber Co. Kansas, Lake City township, the family of Thomas B. Hagan, age 45, lives next to the family of Barned(sic) V. Stoughton, age 61. The birth date of Thomas B. Hagan (~1835) puts him in the same generation as John Edward Hagan and wife Martha Boyle. Note that his daughter was born in Missouri. We assume this to be John E. Hagan, miss-enumerated as Tom B. Hagan.
  • Per the obituary of Barnard V. Stoughton's wife Susan Myer, her first husband was John Hagan, father of John E. Hagan. Susan's son John E. Hagan married Barnard's niece Martha Boyle.
