R1 | In searching the 1830 Montgomery County NC census for possible parents of Maxton C. Williams, the following Williams families have males who could have been born in 1815: Archibald Williams (pg 37): 1 male 10-15, 30-40, 2 females <5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 30-40. David Williams (pg 1): 1 male <5, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 40-50, 1 female <5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 30-40. Thomas Williams (pg 31): 2 males 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 40-50, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 15-20, 1 female 40-50. The family of Wiley Scarborough lives next door to Thomas Williams. If the parents of Maxton C. Williams' were already in Montgomery Co. by 1830, these are the most likely families; however, it is possible that the family moved into the area between 1830 and 1840. Ancestry.com does not appear to have census data for Montgomery Co in 1820. None of the Williams families seen in 1830 can be identified in the 1810 census. |

R2 | The site for the OneWorld Tree gives the following extensions: A. Parents of Frances Ann Andrews are Edmond M. Andrews and Priscilla Hancock. Since Edmond Maxton Williams was the first son born to Maxton (Mastin, Martin) C. Williams and Frances Ann Andrews, it is reasonable that he was named after her father who had died between 1840 and 1850. B. In 1860 and 1850, Frances Ann Andrews lives with Priscilla Andrews and Frances' siblings. The 1840 census for Edmund Andrews has ages for the wife and the children consistent with those of Priscilla and her children in 1850. In 1850, an 87 year old Priscilla Hancock is living with Priscilla Andrews. The OneWorld Tree reports that Priscilla's maiden name was Hancock. Her parents are listed as Samuel Hancock and P. Scarborough. |

R3 | There is a question about the correct last name for Frances Ann. It is possible that this was here second marriage as well, and that she was earlier married to a McDonald. Other documentation all points to Andrews as her original family name. No record of A Frances McDonald can be found in census records for Montgomery County in 1850 or 1860. |
- Searches of census and other databases for the children of Maxton C. Williams gave no results that can be definitely tied to the children except for one possible find of John R. Williams in Mt. Gilead Township. The other names were found, but in areas other than Montgomery Co. We will need additional information (marriage records etc. to follow those out.
