Family of M.A.McCandless: 1 male <10, 2 males 16-26, 2 males 26-44, 1 female <10, 2 females 16-26, 1 female >44. This may corresponds to the Moses McCandless household, but with several variance problems. One male <10 : William age 1. Two males 16-26:possibly sons unknown to us at this time. Two males 26-44: Moses and unknown male, possibly a brother. One female <10: Hannah age 8. (Jane "Jennie" age 10, is not accounted for by the census, possibly living elsewhere as servant girl). Two females 16-26: Jane Hockenberry, age unknown, and possibly a sister of Moses McCandless. One female >44, possibly one of the widowed mothers (ie. Jane unknown McCandless, or Hannah Kelly Hockenberry). Jane "Jennie" McCandless would be ~age 10, per the 1850 census for her.

Family headed by Moses McCandless: 1 male 20-30, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 20-30, 1 female 30-40. This possibly corresponds to son William, 21; Moses; female 5-10 unknown; female 10-15 unknown; daughter Hanna 28; female30-40 unknown, (possibly daughter Jane "Jennie" McCandless age 30 but we believe we have a census for her in 1840 married to James McCandless; also, she was a widow with 4 children by 1850, so probably not living with parents in 1840). Jane Hockenberry may have died by 1840. Since her daughter Hannah was born ~1810, Jane should have been born by about 1790-93 at latest, and should be aged at least 47-50 by the 1840 census.
