Will of William King, Mecklenburg County, NC Will Book D, pgs. 137-38.
In the name of God Amen. I William King of the County of Mecklenburg in the State of N Carolina being in perfect health at present but knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament. That is to say ___ first of all I give & recommend my Soul to God that gave it, but my body unto the Earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors. And as for ___ worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give & dispose of in the following manner, viz. I give & bequeath my real estate to my four children that is to say Archibald Crocket, John King, Elizabeth McCorkle, & William (McCullah?) to be equally divided, and it is my will & desire that my Executors whom I shall hereafter mention as keep in (trust?) land Elizabeth McCorkle's part until the decease of her husband if he departs life before his said wife. And then to be given to her the said Elizabeth McCorkle to her and her heirs & consigns forever. But if the said Elizabeth should die before her husband that then her land to be equally divided among the heirs above mentioned ___ their heirs & assigns. I give & bequeath the (income?) of my above mentioned to the direct support & living of my dear wife Mary Ann during her life time & then to be disposed of as above. I also constitute & appoint my beloved children Archibald Crocket and John King as my Executors to this my last Will & Testament. Signed, sealed & ____ the 12th day of November 1788.
