Samuel Beals, aged 75 years, died at his home in Beaver Township on January 30, after an illness of four months. He was born in Lehigh County, September 5, 1841 (sic;actually it was 1831), coming with his parents to Clarion County when still a child. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Frank, of Brave; Kurtz and Merl, of Beaver Township; Mrs. James Laughner, of Wireton; Mrs. J. W. Buckalew, of Long Beach, Cal; Mrs. Frank Hartsell and Mrs. C. P. Reed of Seneca; Clyde, Jacob, Maybel, Alta and Margie, at home; one stepson Warren Baker of Bryant, Ind; one sister, Mrs. Anna Biery, of Richland Township, and four brothers, James, of Nickleville; William and Levi, of Richland township; and Hiram, of St. Petersburg. The deceased was a life-long member of the Lutheran church. Services were held in the Lutheran church at Knox on February 3. Rev. F. S. Howard officiating. The choir sang "Abide With Me", "Asleep in Jesus"; "Nearer My God, to Thee"; and "Thy Will, O Lord, Be Done". There was a large floral offering and many friends and neighbors were in attendance. Interment was made in the Knox Cemetery.
