Donald W. Dittman, 84, of Snivelys Corners Road, Salem Township, Clarion County, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, in the Golden Living Center, Clarion. Born June 26, 1923, on the family farm in Snivelys Corners, he was the son of the late Joseph and Minta Beals Dittman. Mr. Dittman was a 1941 graduate of the Salem High School. He was a former 32nd degree member of the Edenburg Masonic Lodge of Knox. He also served on the school board for the Keystone School District. Mr. Dittman was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed working on his farm and also had a love for horses. He also enjoyed attending and participating in activities at the St. Petersburg Senior Center. Mr. Dittman was employed at the Quaker State Refinery in Emlenton, retiring in 1985 after 36 years of employment. He was married Nov. 5, 1948, in the St. Petersburg Lutheran Church to the former Patricia Helen Logue, who preceded him in death in 2001. Surviving are three sons, Donald A. Dittman and wife, Laurel, of Polk, Barry W. Dittman and wife, Anna, of Knox, and Joseph R. Dittman and wife, Karen, of Emlenton; a daughter, Brenda Elder and husband, Joel, of Somerset; grandchildren, Michael and Amy Dittman of Franklin, Jason and Emily Dittman of Syracuse, N.Y., Autumn and Rick Best of Lucinda, Brian, Jacob and Emily Dittman of Emlenton, and Megan and Rachel Elder of Somerset; and three great-granddaughters, Paige Kleinfelder, Josephine Dittman and Ava Best. He also is survived by one brother, Ralph Dittman, of Bruin. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Dittman was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur, Leo, Fred and Homer Dittman; and four sisters, Esther Piper, Elva Renfrew, Grace Schneider and Ruth Schultz. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., 504 Penn St., Knox. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Salem Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Karen Parsh, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Salem Township, Clarion County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church, P.O.
