Source notes
- Around 1810, William Bescht (Best) Jr., Barbara Best Sheffer’s father, purchased a track of land in Venango County near Blair’s Corners (present day Clarion County) and gave parcels to each of his children for relocation to the area. In 1822 John and Barbara purchased & moved onto land near Salem (now Lamartine, Salem Twp.).
