Source Notes

  • Per Ella Wilson manuscript: Mary Ann Kline was the 2nd wife of John Henry Strotman. By his first wife, Maggie Young, he had one son, John William Strotman. John Henry Strotman married 3rd Francis Rupple; no children. Ella Wilson refers to "Strotman's book", possibly a family history.
  • 1880 census lists son John Strotman age 6; is this the same person as Franklin Strotman who died in infancy?
  • Perry Strotman was the son of Amos and Louie Strotman (from the 1880 US census, Ashland Twp, Clarion Co, PA) and he and Effie (last name unknown) were married in December of 1899 (1900 census). Perry was born in Jan and Effie in May of 1879. The 1910 and 1920 census list children: Rola E. (1910 census, b. 1901), Prosper A(lbert), b. 1904, and Paul, b. 1912).
  • The dates listed for Effie Strotman, dau. of John Henry Strotman and Mary Ann Kline, found in two of our sources appear to be erroneously take from the gravestone of Effie Unknown, wife of Perry Strotman.
