Source Notes

[3] A significant error was made by the census enumerator on this 1920 Census page. John's information appears to be correct, except perhaps the extra F in his last name and that his birth state is listed as MD rather than NY. The next person listed is Grace W. Huff, which is his daughter (see 1930 Census, source [4]). However, the data given for Grace appears to be that of John's wife, Laura. Specifically, Grace is listed as being 35 years old and married to John. Laura does not appear in this entry at all. Son Vernon W. Huff's data matches that found in the 1930 census. The fact that the address is the same as the 1930 census, and that the cohabitants of the house, the Walkers, are the same as in the 1910 census, leads us to believe that this is indeed the correct John A. Huf(f), and that the census taker got their wires crossed while writing down the data.
