- Source 3, 1880 Census includes five Rugh households, headed by: John E. Rugh age 46, wife Sarah J.,47; Ester Rugh 47, widow; Solomon Rugh 40, wife Licey E. 41; Emanuel (J?) Rugh 35, wife Clarrah R. 35; William Rugh 79, wife Scarlet 76.
- In the obituary of Carolyn Snyder Bower, Maria Rugh's father-in-law, "Arthur Bower of Oakdale", is listed as a survivor, but not his wife Mariah. See Paris A. Bower page, source No.6.
