It indicates that Uzziel was born in Greenfield, IN on 23 Dec 1837 and died at his home near Auburn [IN or IL? not stated] on 13 Oct 1916. At the age of 17 he moved with his father's family to Terre Haute, IN. He was a Union soldier during the Civil War, enlisting with the 11th IN Infantry at the outbreak of the war and again with the 16th IN Infantry until the close of the war, receiving an honorable discharge. After the war, he moved to New London, MO, and lived there for 9 years. He married Phebe Overman in Perry, MO, on 24 Mar 1867. Together, they had 8 children--2 boys, 6 girls. One son, Will Church, died 20 years prior to Uzziel's death. Still living are his wife and seven children, Frank Church of Terre Haute, Maggie Smittkamp of Marshall, Mattie Barlow of St. Louis, MO, Etta Shaffner of Martinsville, Cora Church, Goldie Brosman of Marinsville, and Mary Husted of Casey.
