Revision as of 07:34, 18 December 2009
John Edward Hagan was the only child of Susan Myer & 1st husband John Hagan who married in about 1833. John E. was probably born about 1834 in Venango Co. PA(present day Clarion Co.) where his mother was born and where she still lived when she married 2nd to Barnard V. Stoughton in 1848.
John Edward Hagan would have been about age 15 at his mother's second marriage, and may not have ever lived in the household of Barnard V. Stoughton. He is not the John Stoughton who appears in that household in the 1850 census. John Edward Hagan did remain in close connection to his mother's second family. In 1870 he is found living next to them in Lawrence Co. Missouri, with wife Martha J. and two young children.
