Della Reddick was born in West Virginia, the daughter of Richard & Malinda Reddick. She married three times. She had two daughters with John Wicks. She married second the widower James G. Wilson, who had seven children. James & Della had three more children. Della's third husband was Lawrence J. Wimer, who had an adopted daughter, Velma. Della was thus the mother of 5 children, the step-mother of 8 more, for a total of 13 children.
