Source notes

  • The relationship of Margaret Hockenberry, wife of Jacob B. Stoughton, to our direct line Hockenberry ancestry is at present unknown. Her mother, Sarah Hockenberry, was age 77 in 1880 and apparently a widow. (see 1880 census above)
  • Margaret Hockenberry (Stoughton) was apparently a widow in 1907; her son Elliot was living with her on the farm, per the notice of his death in the Butler Citizen issue of 2 May 1907. This suggests that Elliot was unmarried.
  • Harry F. Stoughton apparently single at age 41 (1918), living with mother Margaret (Stoughon) per WWI Draft Registration.
