These seem to correspond to Jacob, John, Matthew, father Andrew Stoughton, Catherine, Hannah, Rachel, an unknown daughter, & mother Mary Glenn. The unknown daughter may have died before 1850, or may cast doubt on the match. However, household of William Stoughton, brother of Andrew, seems to be next door. |

− | * The relationship of Margaret Hockenberry, wife of Jacob | + | * The relationship of [[Margaret L. Hockenberry]], wife of [[Jacob Bernard Stoughton]], to our direct line Hockenberry ancestry is presently not well documented. Her father, [[Jonathan Hockenberry]], is thought to be the son of direct line ancestor [[John Hockenberry]]. If this is the case, then [[Elizabeth Ann Stoughton]]'s uncle [[Jacob Bernard Stoughton]] married her great-great-grandfather [[John Hockenberry]]'s granddaughter, [[Margaret L. Hockenberry]]. It is a sizable loop in the family tree, but one that is closed only through an in-law relationship. |
+ | * Margaret Hockenberry (Stoughton) was apparently a widow in 1907; her son Elliot was living with her on the farm, per the notice of his death in the Butler Citizen issue of 2 May 1907. This suggests that Elliot was unmarried.
+ | * Harry F. Stoughton apparently single at age 41 (1918), living with mother Margaret (Stoughon) per WWI Draft Registration.

It is possible that Jacob B. Stoughton's middle name was originally Barnard, as his father Andrew Stoughton had a brother named Barnard VanZant Stoughton.

[edit] Source notes
- The relationship of Margaret L. Hockenberry, wife of Jacob Bernard Stoughton, to our direct line Hockenberry ancestry is presently not well documented. Her father, Jonathan Hockenberry, is thought to be the son of direct line ancestor John Hockenberry. If this is the case, then Elizabeth Ann Stoughton's uncle Jacob Bernard Stoughton married her great-great-grandfather John Hockenberry's granddaughter, Margaret L. Hockenberry. It is a sizable loop in the family tree, but one that is closed only through an in-law relationship.
- Margaret Hockenberry (Stoughton) was apparently a widow in 1907; her son Elliot was living with her on the farm, per the notice of his death in the Butler Citizen issue of 2 May 1907. This suggests that Elliot was unmarried.
- Harry F. Stoughton apparently single at age 41 (1918), living with mother Margaret (Stoughon) per WWI Draft Registration.
