Della Reddick was born in West Virginia, the daughter of Richard & Malinda Reddick. She married three times.  She had two daughters with John Wicks.  She married second the widower James G. Wilson, who had seven children.  James & Della had three more children.   Della's third husband was Lawrence J. Wimer, who had an adopted daughter, Velma. Della was thus the mother of 5 children, the step-mother of 8 more, for a total of 13 children.

PA.  Ten years later she was working as a waitress at the Slippery Rock Normal School, the forerunner to Slippery Rock College.  Della married three times.  She had two daughters with John Wicks, residing in Slippery Rock Twp.  She married second the widower James G. Wilson, who had seven children.  Jim & Della had three more children, and moved to Nickleville, Venango Co. PA.  Jim died in 1931 at age 44, and was buried at WEst Liberty with his first wife.   Della's third husband was Lawrence J. Wimer, who had an adopted daughter, Velma. They resided in Indiana Co. PA.  Della was thus the mother of 5 children, the step-mother of 8 more, for a total of 13 children under her care. Della died in 1968 at age 82 years.  She and Lawrence J. Wimer  are buried in Indiana Co., in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana City.

Della Reddick is not in my direct ancestor. She is related by marriage:

Della Reddick was born 1886,in West Virginia, the daughter of Richard & Malinda Reddick. (Per Jan Finke, parents were Henry M. Reddick & Elvery unknown; 1900 census shows Richard & Alvita). She was the only sister to 5 brothers: Harold, Cecil, Henry, Earl & Charles Reddick. By 1900 her family had moved to Slippery Rock Twp., Butler Co. PA. Ten years later she was working as a waitress at the Slippery Rock Normal School, the forerunner to Slippery Rock College. Della married three times. She had two daughters with John Wicks, residing in Slippery Rock Twp. She married second the widower James G. Wilson, who had seven children. Jim & Della had three more children, and moved to Nickleville, Venango Co. PA. Jim died in 1931 at age 44, and was buried at WEst Liberty with his first wife. Della's third husband was Lawrence J. Wimer, who had an adopted daughter, Velma. They resided in Indiana Co. PA. Della was thus the mother of 5 children, the step-mother of 8 more, for a total of 13 children under her care. Della died in 1968 at age 82 years. She and Lawrence J. Wimer are buried in Indiana Co., in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana City.

They were both 21 at the time of their first marriage. They live with son Merl A. Wilson, 19; son Brice C. Wilson, 17; daughter Vernice E. Wilson, 14; son Kenneth J. Wilson, 12; daughter Dorothy H. Wilson, 8; son Homel W. Wilson, 7; son James E. Wilson, 3; daughter Mary J. Wilson, 1 year 11 months; daughter Mabel E. Wilson, 8 months; and stepdaughter Betty Wicks, 7. James G. Wilson aged 44 died at his home near Nickleville Saturday, Dec. 19. Funeral at home, Rev. Engle of West Liberty officiating; burial at West Liberty cemetery. Born in Butler Co.; farmer. Married Lorena Mayer 8 July 1908; after her death in 1924 he married Della Reddich. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Della Reddich Wilson; 10 children Mrs Clifford Bickel of Keister, Merle, Rice, Bernice, Kenneth, Dorothy, Homer, James, Mary Jane & Mabel Wilson, all at home; and Bert Wilson of Nickleville.
