Wilson Families of Prospect PA, Relationship Unknown

In addition to children of our James Wilson, other Wilson families have been located in Prospect, Franklin Twp., Butler Co. PA. At present their relationship if any is not established.


1.) Family of James Wilson (1818-~1902)

  • 1860 Census Prospect, Franklin Twp., Butler Co. PA, ancestry.com pg 20.
    Lines 27-33 James Wilson age 41, farmer, $6600 real estate, $1678 personal estate; Sarah B. age 30; Margaret age 4, Ida J. age 1. Jane Wilson age 76; Elizabeth age 46. Hiram McGill age 15, farm laborer, in school. All born in PA.

  • Prospect Presbyterian Cemetery, plot with 5 gravestones of the James Wilson family. Transcribed & photographed June 2007 by Elizabeth Wilson Williams. The grounds keeper said the 5 stones had been moved from a site near the church when the church building was expanded. They were relocated in their original order at the lower edge of the cemetery. According to the groundskeeper, an effort was made to locate living family members at that time, but none could be located.

Gravestone transcriptions June 2007 by Elizabeth Wilson Williams. Besides a substantial stone with engraving on 3 sides, the plot contained 3 smaller illegible stones. Larger stone:
Side 1: J. Louder Wilson 1840-1892, Mary A. Wilson 1842-1929.
Side 2: Ida May Wilson 1871-1889, Samuel A. Wilson 1876-1877
Side 3: Elmer D. Wilson 1863-1913.
