In the Name of god Amen. I Joseph Thomas of the State of South Carolina, County of York being of sound and disposing mind and memory but week in boddy and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly Estate as it hath pleased god to bless me with do make this my last will in manner following that is to Say:
I desire first after my deceast that all my Just dets and funerial exspenses be paid out of my personal property the remainder of my Personal property that is left after paying my dets I give and bequath to my wife Catheron E. Thomas. I also will and bequath to my wife Catheron E. Thomas One Hundred Acres of my Reial Estate with the Improvements Beginning at a post oak on the (Thonens) Ferry Road wheare the Road from my House goes into the Thonens) ferry Road and Runing thence down the old Spring Branch to line of J. (M.) Ardrey, thence down Said line to the Sutton line now (Canton) Line thence far a nough with Said line to make one hundred Acres Square a Cross ___(Thonens) ferry road. all so one third interest in a gold mine on my place dure her life and on so long as She remains my widder and at her deth one halfe of Said astate to go to my Sone Andrew L. Thomas the other half to be divided equilay between my Grand Sons Edward and Thomas Caton. the Remainder of my Reial Estate that is left after cutting off the One hundred acres I will and bequeath one half to my Sone Andrew L. Thomas the other half to be Equiley Divided between Edward Caton and Thomis Caton and that my Daughter Laurer J. Caton recieve her Surport off the part wild (sic, willed) to Edward and Thomas Caton during her life time or as long as She dus not marrey a gane. And lastley I do Constitute and appoint my Said wife Executorix of this my last will and Testament where of I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal this 27th day of May One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Nine. York County Personally appeared before me T G Culp and made oath that he was present and saw Joseph Thomas sign and act...foregoing .. sheets of written matter to be his last will and testament ...that he with M. H. Kizer and Jane Alexander .......in the presence of Each other and testater .... Sworn to before me Sept 21 1897 T. G. Culp

Whereas the late Joseph Thomas died leaving a wile whitch is Probated and Recorded in the Probate office in Yorkvill Said State and County aforesaid. Bequathing his Reial Estate as follows to his widder one Hundred Acres during her life time and then one half of the Said one Hundred acres to his Son Andrew L. Thomas the other half to his two Grandsons Edward C. and Thomas L Caton. The Remainder of his land one half to his Son Andrew L. Thomas and the other half to his two grand Sons Edward C. and Thomas L Caton. Now Whereas wee the Said heirs (have) a greed under the Said will to devide up Said lands in a cordence with this agrement to make each of the Said within parites warentee_itels to sixty three acres a peace now upon the faithful performance of this contract each bind our selves our heirs___Administrators and assigns for ever to warrent and defend the Saim given under our hands and seals this 10th day of December 1897.
