In the name of God, Amen. I William McCormick of the State of Carolina & County of Mecklenburg being sound in body, ___ of ___ & mind & memory (thanks be to God) ____the mortality of my body & that it is appointed for all men once to die & after that the hard ground, do appoint this my Last Will & Testament, to wit. I do in the first place bequeath my soul in to the hand of God my Savior hoping through the riches of his free grace to obtain a happy resurrection & my body I thus direct to be buried at the discretion of my Executors & as for such worldly _____ so it hath pleased the Lord to bless me with I do dispose of as follows viz:
First of all I will that my funeral expenses & all my other lawful debts be ______paid out of my estate. The remainder to be equally parted between my ___ beloved wife Eliz. McCormick & my two sons William & Daniel as follows, viz: My wife to remain in full & free possession of my land & innovations of every kind and without ___ or molestation of any person _________ for their own support & maintenance &/or the support & maintenance of my two children until my said two children arise to years capable of learning in which case I will & direct that they both be put to school first in English & ____Latin to be qualified as far as human ____fit them for preaching the everlasting gospels of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, the expenses of their learning to be taken out of this part of my Estate. But if my wife should think proper to marry again after my demise & before my children arrive at an age capable of attending their schools I will & devise that all my estate land & innovations be sold at public auction & my wife should to receive her third part of all the money arising therefrom & the money of the other two parts to be disposed of for the benefit of my two children as above mentioned, as the wisdon & ____ of my Executors may direct, each of my children to receive an equal part of said money. Acknowledging & appointing (only) to be my last Will & Testament & appointing Robert Allison & Elizabeth McCormick Executors of this my Last Will & Testament & in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 9th day of February in the year of our Lord 1794.
