Clarion Democrat, Clarion Pa., Feb. 25 1897:

Although his death had not been unexpected for several weeks past, the announcement of his demise seemed none the less painful to his many relatives and friends in this immediate vicinity. A short time ago he also suffered a partial stroke of paralysis, and for many days preceding his final illness he was almost entirely helpless, although he retained his mental faculties unimpaired to the last. The deceased was born in Monroe township, this county, December 4th, 1852, and spent the earlier years of his life on his father's farm. He was thrice married, his first wife being Mary Fetzer, of Monroe township, and to them was born one daughter who is still living, the mother having been called home in her daughter's early childhood. His second wife was a Mrs. Beals, of Beaver township, whose death occurred some years later, without issue. On April 5th, 1886, he was united in marriage with Miss Carrie L. Cribbs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Cribbs, of Monroe township. ......."
