3 Will of Peter Praa, from The New York Historical Society Collections, an 1892-1902 volume featureing abstracts of wills on file in the Surrogates Office, City of New York, from 1665 to 1800. Peter Praa Van Zandt and Johanes Van Zandt are named as a grandson in the will of Capt. Peter Praa, dated 6 Aug 1739. Also named are his wife Maria, a daughter Elizabeth Meseroll (& a John Meseroll), daughter Annetie, wife of Daniel Bodee, a daughter Christiana Provoose.
William S. Pelletreau, member of the Society prepared the abstracts, and says of Peter Praa:
"Captain Peter Praa, the testator in above will, was the son of Peter Praa (or Praah), a French Huguenot, who fled to Leyden and from thence to New Amsterdam in 1659, and died there March 6, 1663. Captain Peter Praa was born in Leyden in 1655, and became a prominent citizen in Newtown, L. I. He married, March 15, 1684, Maria Hay, daughter of Jacob Hay and Christina Coffoens. (She was at that time the widow of Joost Adriansen Molenaer, by whom she had a daughter, Sara.) Their daughter Christina married David Provoost, 1712, and had a son, Peter Praa Provoost, and other children. The houses and lots in New York, left to his grand-sons, are probably the southwest corner of Pearl and Pine streets.--W. S. P.

Wynant Van Zandt, Jr. Papers 1787-1828; bulk dates 1804-1807. Date of receipt 1919, Clara Van Zandt (grandaughter of Wynant Van Zandt Jr.)
Wynant Van Zandt, Jr. was a New York merchant and Alderman. He was born Aug. 11, 1767 to Wynant Van Zandt (Dutch descent) and Jane Colgan. Van Zandt besides being a merchant and Alderman in Public Office, founded the Zion Episcopal Church at Little Neck, (now Douglaston). He married Maria Allaire Underhill in 1788, who had five sons. Van Zandt died in 1831 and was buried in the church vault of the Zion Episcopal Church. Papers mainly from business associates... and term of public office.
( It is unclear whether this is a son of Wyant Van Zandt; the first name spelling variant and different mother's name suggests a different family. His birth date of 1767 suggests a later generation.) See http://www.nypl.org/research/chss/spe/rbk/faids/vanzandt.pdf
See next source; same founder of Zion Episcopal Church at Little Neck, her spelled "Wyant" Van Zandt.
