...you a few lines and tell you that my Dear Mother, Mrs. Susan Mitchell has been called by our Heavenly Father to answer the great Roll Call. Her Check has come and I thought I would tell you now I wish to say that I am her only child that is living and I am a widow with six small children and I have wondered if you would allow me to have that check to pay on her funeral expenses as I have no means of support only my own labor. My children are all very small. Please rite and tell me if you can do any thing for me. Yours very respectfully, Mrs. Savilla Lewis, Van Pa., Rt No. 1.
