Per Duane Beals: The attached picture was found by David Beals among family albums and sent to me. We collaborated on identifying the people and have concluded the following: The picture was taken in front of the house on Walnut Street in Emlenton, PA rented by Walt and Edith Beals from about 1930 to 1939. The building in the background is the garage of the Harry Graham home. It was taken apparently by Lawrence Gates (since he is not in it) most likely in the summer of 1933. The people are: Standing, L to R: Faye McClellan (1916 - 1972), Walter Beals (1901 - 1971), Olive Shannon Gates (1897 - 2000), Carrie May Gates (probable) mother of Lawrence Gates, (1865 - 1950), Edith Shannon Beals (1907 - 2004), Maurice Baker Shannon (1872 - 1947), Lillian Mae Beals Shannon (1877 - 1967), Francis Augustus Beals (1853-1943) Front, L to R: Harry Eugene Gates (1926 - 1964), Duane Beals (1931 - ), Clara Louise Gates (1923 - ), either Amie Lawrie Gates (1895 - 1987) or Ethel Marguerite Gates (1894 - 1978). We're not sure of this person but given the presence of Carrie, Lawrence, Olive, Gene and Clara Lou Gates, we think it is one of them.
