1820 May Session Book 6:275...Ordered by Court that Elizabeth King & John W. King Administer on the Estate of John King, Deceased, who appeared in Court and was Qualified and entered into bond with William C. McCormick & Henry Hoover, Securities, in the Sum of £5000.

1820 May Session Book 6:277...Ordered by Court that Michael McLeary, Esqr., Henry Hoover, William McKinley, & Joseph Hudson be a committee to lay off one Years provisions out of the Estate of John King, Decd., for the Widow and family agreeable to Law.

1820 August Session Book 6:289...Ordered by the Court that John W. King, Administrator of John King, Decd., be allowed until November Term next to return an inventory and Amount of the Estate of the Said John King, Decd.

1820 November Session Book 6:306...Inventory and Amt. of Sales of the Estate of John King, Decd., returned by John W. King, Admr. to Amt. of --- $2,419.40 Also, by Eliz. King, Admx., amt of notes in her hands - $1,150.67 [Sum] $3,570.07.

1821 February Session Book 6:312...The Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth King, Decd., was proven in Court by Doctr. Robt. McKenzie & Hannah McCoard the Subscribing Witnesses & recorded. Wm. C. McCormick, the Executors named in Said Will, appeared in Court and was Qualified. [Ed. Note: This will is not recorded in Mecklenburg Co.].

1821 February Session Book 6:313...Ordered that James Morehead, Eight Years old in May next, be bound to John M. King to learn the Art of Farming, and he [is to] comply with the Law in such case provided, and that he give Said Apprentice when free a Suit of Clothes worth $25.

1821 February Session Book 6:314....Ordered by Court that William C. McCormick be Gudn. for Argyle King, an orphan who appeared in Court and entered into bond with John McCoard, Security, in the Sum of £500.

1821 February Session Book 6:330...Pursuant to an Order of Court the Jury laid off to Elizabeth King her right of Dower in the lands of John King, her Deceased Husband. Beginning at a gum by the ford of the Branch George Kings Corner & runs with the Division line N 66 W 112 poles to a small Hickory on the old line, then with 5 of the old lines N 61 E 76 poles along William Scotts line to a B.O. Scotts corner, then with his other line N10 E 170 poles Crossing the Creek to a W.O. then No. 72 E 28 poles to an Ash on the bank of the Creek John Dows corner, then with his line So 12 E 120 poles to a small B.O. by the Road Geo. Kings corner, then with his line [and the] Mill road being the line about So. 73 W. 16 poles, then E 88 W 50 [poles], then with Scotts Mill road So. 80 W 40 poles, then S 88 W 26 poles to the Cross Roads, then with the other road about South 30 poles, then So 45 W 30 poles to the Beginning Containing 189 acres of Land.

1821 November Session Book 6:375...David V. Wilson vs John W. King. William McKinley, a Witness in this Suit Solomnly Called & forfeited Judgt. Of Court for £20 Ni si [nisi prius]. Jury Charged, find all the issues in favour of the plantiff and assess his Damage to $65. Appeal prayed & granted.

1822 February Session Book 6:394...John W. King Admr., vs George King & Others. Jury find all the issues in favour of the plantiff, That the principal in the bond declared on is of the Value of $1,064.39, and assess the plantiff Damage by way of Interest to $44.34 [judgement] $1,108.73. Appeal prayed & granted.

1822 May Session Book 6:412...John W. King Admrs. vs Elizabeth Kings Exr. Same Jury as above charged and find the Defendant is Guilty & that within three Years & Assess the plantiff Damage to $971.75, and that there are Assets to the Amount of $971.75 in the hands of the Executor, [&] that there are no former Judgements. On Motion for a rule[&] to Show cause why the Defendants [ought?] not have a new Tryal. The rule was made absolute.

1822, May Session Book 6:416...State vs Argyle King, On Complaint of Sidney Finch, praying the peace against the Defendant, Ordered by the Court [that the defendant] be bound in the Sum of £100 with two Securities in the Sum of £50 each to keep the peace toward all the Good Citizens of this State and particularly toward Sidney Finch for one Year & one day, Who was bound Accordingly with John W. King & Colin King, Securities, bound in £50 each & discharged.

Kings Corner & Alexander Catheys corner, then with two of his lines So.48 poles to a Dogwood, then So.30 W 200 poles to a Stake Catheys corner on George Waddells line, then with his line E 88 poles to a B.O. Stump by Waddells fence, then N 52 E 160 poles to a P.O. Gen. McLearys corner, then N 36 E 98 poles to a small P.O. Geo. Kings corner, then with his line to the Beginning. Lot No.4. George King 158 acres of Land, 133 acres of Said Land was conveyed to George King by his Father John King, Decd., and 25 acres of Said land is added to the lot By the Jury Bounded as follows - Beginning at a Small P.O. the old corner on the West side of the Branch Argyle Kings corner & runs with three of the Old lines No. 13 W I 10 poles to a B.O. Colin Kings corner, then with his line So.56 W 140 poles to a Small pine by the cross roads John W. Kings corner. then with his line along the road to the ford of the Branch to a gum John W. Kings corner, then with his line up the Branch earth the Various Courses of the Branch to the Beginning appraised to $553.

1824 May Session Book 7:53...Bill of Sale Andrew Clark, Constable, for a Negro boy sold as the property of Abraham J. Hays at the Suit of John W. King [dated] 24th of May 1824, [proved] by Jno. R. Williams.

1824 August Session Book 7:59...John R. Williams vs Colin C. King. Jury find all the issues in favour of the Defendant.

1824 August Session Book 7:61...Colin C. King and George W. King serve on a jury.

1824 August Session...Geo. W. King serves on a jury. State vs Argyle King, Ordered that the Dfdt. pay Peggy Hipp $30 for the Support of her Base born Child the second Year. State vs Argyle King, Ordered that the Dfdt. pay Peggy Hipp $25 for the Support of her Base born Child the second Year.

1824 November Session Book 7:73...On Motion, It is ordered by the Court that the monies received by the Sheriff upon the Sale of the property of John W. King upon three Executions against him from the Superior Court of Law of this County returned by him to May Term 1824 of Said Court, The State vs him & others, also Hugh Stinson vs him, & one Other David V. Wilson vs him of the Sales paying the Said Executions That the Ballace be applied to a Fi Fa returnable to this Court at the present term Wm. C. McCormick against the Said John W. King.

1825 February Session Book 7:83...David Parks vs Colin C. King. Jury find all the issues in favour of the Plantiff and assess his Damage to $11.51 1/2.

1825 May Session Book 7:95...Parks & Graham vs Colin C. King. Jury find all the issues in favour of the Plantiff and assess his Damage to $56.84-3/4. On Motion, Judgement of Court against the Security.

1825 May Session Book 7:97...Ordered that Alexander Greer, Esqr., be appointed to Settle the Estate of Argyle King, with William C. McCormick, his Guardian, Also to Settle the Estate of Elizabeth King with the Said McCormick [&?] her Executor.

1825 August Session Book 7:103...Josiah Alexanders Adrms. vs Azariah Alexander & John W. King, Admr., Jury find all the issues in favour of the Defendants.

1825 August Session Book 7:105...John W. King serves on a jury.

1825 August Session Book 7:107...John W. King vs William Scott. Caveat by Processioner. Ordered that the Sheriff Summons James Porter, Robert Sloan, Joseph Blackwood, Andrew Greer, & John Smith as a Jury with the Processioner to Try & determine a Matter of Controversy between the Said parties according to Law.

Ordered that Polly Beaty be allowed the Sum of $40 for Supporting her Base born Child the Second Year and that Argyle King the reputed father pay the same.

Ordered that Argyle King pay to Peggy Hipp the Sum of $40 for Supporting her Base born Child of which he is the reputed father.

1825 August Session Book 7:109...(The under named Deed, Bills of Sales &c was duly proven & acknowledged in Court and Recored [sic], to wit: Colin C. King to Abraham Scott, for his land with all it appurtenances, one Negro girl Sylvia, Ten head of Cattle, four head of horned beasts, and [a] Waggon to secure the payment of $500 with Interest on the first day of August next bearing date the 19th day of March 1825, Acknowledged by the Grantor. Argyle King to Abraham Scott, for 186 acres of Land, also a Negro Woman named Chloe & boy named Tony to secure the payment of $521 to Alexr. Greer for which the Said Abraham Scott is Security, due the 18th of Decr. next. bearing date the 28th of June 1825, [proved] by Alexander Greer. Colin C. King to Abraham Scott, for a Negro Girl Katy to Secure the payment of $232.61 to Alexander Greer due the 18th of Decr. next for which the Said Abraham Scott become Security, bearing date the __ day of June 1825, Acknowledged by the Grantor.

1825 November Session Book 7:114...Joseph Fields, ass[ignee], vs Colin C. King. Jury find the bond declared on is the Act & deed of the Defendant, that the Sum mentioned in the bond is $145, & assess the plantiffs Damage by way of Interest to $7.97.

1825 November Session Book 7:115...State vs. William McKinley & Geo. W. King. Jury find the Defendants are not Guilty of the Affray, but that Wm. McKinley is guilt of the Assault & Battery as charged in the bill of Indictment & Wm. McKinley was fined by Court 6d.

1825 November Session Book 7:120...John W. King vs William Scott. Caveat. Report of the Jury, to wit: We James Porter, Robert Sloan & Joseph Blackwood, freeholders, unconnected to the parties by affinity or Consanquinity, after being Summoned by the Sheriff with the processioner & County Surveyor, have met on the premises in dispute Wherein John W. King is the plantiff and William Scott is the Defendant & after being Sworn by the Sheriff of Said County to do equal Justice to the parties we have proceeded to Survey and have heard Evidence of both parties and as the land in dispute lies between the dotted lines & the Black line King claimed to dotted line & Scott Claimed to the Black line. We have found in favour of the Defendant William Scott agreeable to the Black line Commencing at a Hickory Alexander Catheys Corner on the South Side of Long Creek & runs with the Black line No. 61 East 210 poles to a Stone Corner & Small B.O. by a Draft, the 11th of Novr. 1825. 1826 February Session Book 7:129...Deed from Colin C. King & Abraham Scott to William McCormick for 113 acres of Land Bearing date the 6th day of Octr. 1825, [proved] by N. Beaty.

1826 May Session Book 7:139...Ordered that the Execution [against] Argyle King under which his land was Sold be set aside, unless it Shall be made to appear during this Term that a Scifa issue against Said King.

State vs. Colin C. King. Affray, Pleads not Guilty. Jury find the Defandant not Guilty of the Affray as charged in the bill of Indictment.

1826 August Session Book 7:150...Ordered that George King, three Years old the 7th of July last, be bound to Valentine Hipp to learn some Trade and he [is to] give him when he is free $100 in money or property & other-wise comply with the law.

William C. McCormick brought into Court the body of Argyle King & Surrendered him up in Court in discharge of his bail in all cases for which he was his bail in Court.

1826 August Session Book 7:151...John W. King, Admr., vs Wm. C. McCormick. Fi Fa. On Motion by Council, It is ordered by Ct. that the Excn. be Set Aside.

1826 August Session Book 7:152 ...Colin King vs William McKinley. Jury find for the plantiff & assess his Damage to $4. Appeal prayed & granted.

1826 August Session Book 7:155...On Motion, of State Attornney [sic], Ordered that Argyle King pay to Polly Hipp the Sum of _____ for the maintenance of her base born Child for the last two Years of which he is the reputed father.

1826 November Session Book 7:166...Alexr. Greer to the use of the Court of Equity vs Argyle King. Isaac Flenniken & William Lawing [on the jury] in the place of W. H. Morrison and J. N. Houston. Jury find all the issues in favor of the Plantiff [sic], that the principal in the bond is of the Value of $521 & asses the plantiffs Damage by way of Interest to $29.96 [for a total of] $550.96.

1826 November Session Book 7:167...Alexander Greer to use of the Court of Equity vs [Colin] C. King & Abraham Scott. Jury find all the issues in favor of the plantiff, that the Sum Mentioned in the bond is of the Value of $232.01 & access the plantiffs Damage by way of Interest to $19.07.

1827 February Session Book 7:178B...William Boyles vs Argyle King; Joseph Blackwood vs Argyle King; Andrew Clark vs Argyle King & Colin C. King; William C. Means vs Argyle & Colin C. King; & William Scott vs Argyle King. Ca. Sa. on Justice Judgement. Abraham Scott, the Security in these four [five?] cases Brought the defendants into Court and Surrendered them in discharge of his bail and was Ordered into the Custody of the Sheriff.

1827 May Session Book 7:190...Bill of Sale from Colin C. King to Abraham Scott for the Ballance of his father John Kings Estate in the hands of John W. King, Surviving Administrator & in the hand of Wm. C. McCormick, Exr. Of Eliz. King, Decd., bearing date the 27th day of May 1826, [proved] by Thomas Harris who proved the hand Writing of Duncan Campbell, the Subscribing Witness now dead. Bill of Sale from Argyle King to Abraham Scott for a Negro Woman Chloe, Boy Tony, One feather bed & 196 acres of Land together [with?] his interest in the Estate of his Father & Mother John & Elizabeth King, Decd., bearing date the 27th day of May 1826, [proved] by Thomas Harris.

1827 November Session Book 7:226...A release from Argyle King to Colin C. King for his Interest in the Estate of Daniel McCormick, Decd., bearing date the 10th day of Feby 1826, [proved] by Michael McLeary.

A release from Colin C. King to Abraham Scott for his Interest & Claim in the Estate of Daniel McCormick, Decd., bearing date the 2d day of March 1826, [proved] by Robert H. Burton.

1828 May Session Book 7:249...William Lawing vs Argyle King & Abram Scott. On Motion to set aside a Judgment, Ordered by Court that the Order be Strucken Out.

1828 August Session Book 7:266...State vs Argyle King. Recog. to keep the peace toward the Citizens of this State & particularly towards Polly Beaty.

Saml. F. Love to use of William J. Alexander vs John W. King. Jury charged who find all the issues in favour of the Pltff. & assess his Damage to $48.86 of which Sum $40 is principal.

1828 November Session Book 7:274...Ordered that Philip Sadler Administer of the Estate of Robt. Sadler, Decd., who was duly Qualified & gave bond with Jas. Sprott & John W. King, Securities, in $500.

1828 November Session Book 7:281...State vs Argyle King & Will C. McCormick. Ordered by Court that Argyle King pay to Peggy Hipp the Sum of $30 for the 2d Years maintenance of her Base born child of which he is the reputed father, & that Nisi be entered against him & his Security for the Same.

1829 February Session Book 7:296...John W. King ordered to serve on jury at May session.

1829 August Session Book 7:324...Moses Green vs Colin C. King. Ca. Sa; Same vs Same. Ca. Sa; John Hipp vs Colin C. King, Ca. Sa; & Same vs Same. In these Cases the defendant having given notice to the plantiff and to Elizabeth Perry was permitted by Court to take the Oath provided for the relief of Insolvent Debtors & discharged by Court.

1829 August Session Book 7:328...Archibald A. King to John W. King, his Interest in 186 acres of Land Bearing date the 28th day of April 1829, [proven] by Henry Hoover.

1830 February Session Book 7:345...No. 174. John W. King, assee. vs. A. W. Scott. Jury find the bond declared on to be the Act & deed of the defendant, and find after deducting the payment of $100 [that he owes] the Sum of $164.58 of Which Sum $157.50 is Principal money.

1830 February Session Book 7:346...John W. King serves on a jury.

1830 February Session Book 7:349...John W. King one of several persons appointed Constable for a period of one year.

1830 February Session Book 7:354...Deed of Trust, Abraham Scott to Washington Morrison, for all his right, Title, Interest & claim to Colin & Argyle Kings claim [to] the Several estates[?] of their Father, Mother, & Brother Daniel McCormicks Estate to Secure the payment of Money due William J. Alexander & others, Bearing date the 11th day of Feby. 1830, [proven] by Franklin L. Smith.

King & recorded.
